Coalition Development and Leadership

We understand that behind even the simplest issues there is a huge diversity of interests and voices.  Today, more than ever, success demands working with broad groups to identify common goals in order to leverage their combined strengths, and we have experience leading a variety of public and private sector coalitions and initiatives.

As an example of some of the many coalitions we have helped develop and lead, we have:

  • Led a U.S. Government initiative to coordinate effective enforcement of intellectual property.
  • Contributed to a coalition of artists and musicians seeking to close a loophole in U.S. copyright law to ensure that radio fairly compensates artists when their music is played on the radio.
  • Contributed to a coalition of industry groups and labor unions to support passage of legislation that improved intellectual property laws and enforcement in the U.S.
  • Led an effort to create an international, CEO-led coalition of technology companies to address critical public policy issues affecting electronic commerce.
  • Helped coordinate a coalition of academicians, historians and land-owners that successfully blocked the construction of a theme park.
  • Helped lead a coalition of U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) stakeholders to stop the diversion of USPTO user fees away from the agency for use by unrelated federal agencies.
  • Assisted a coalition of business interests to block legislation that would amend the Federal Rule of Civil Procedure by limiting a Federal court’s discretion to enter an order in a civil case.
